Taken By Force (1977) is a solid, front to back, album. It’s my favorite studio album, the live album is still my go to. The track “Sails of Charon” is probably their most epic piece of music. I enjoyed reading your piece. Thank you for sharing.
Huge Scorps fan my whole life, but only heard Lonesome Crow finally from my old roommate / music partner about 6 or 7 years ago. The effect of age helped me love it on impact, and it blow me away how young they were...but then again it's crazy how young so many of those classic bands were, really. Great to see it pop up.
Very cool piece. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit my Scorpions knowledge is very limited outside “Still Loving You”, which I’ve always loved. I will check out this album you mention in more detail.
My first exposure to The Scorpions was "The Zoo" which was a minor radio hit preparatory to the huge radio success that was to come, and remains a talkbox classic for me. And "Still Loving You" hit home as well. I knew this longhaired dude with a Les Paul copy who loved that song even more than I did. But on the same album was "Rock You Like a Hurricane," which, um, is a piece of shit, and that kind of limited my interest in the band just as my tastes were getting away from FM radio hard rock anyway.
And yet. Forty years later I've never heard a Scorpions album with Michael Schenker and Lonesome Crow sounds interesting. I'll get on that now. Thanks!
If you listen to Lovedrive and then either Animal Magnetism or Blackout, you can really hear the difference between Schenker and Jabs.
And yes, "Rock you like a Hurricane" is very much overrated. I've seen the Scorpions a lot over the years and I still don't understand how this is their biggest hit.

Please remember that is is not the Scorpions that everyone knows. And we can't know every band. I'm learning from everyone on this platform.
"Still Loving You" is a great track and one of the Scorpions better ballads.
So true. Thanks! And so am I. That’s one of the many good things about this place.
Same here, really.

I really like everything off of Animal Magnetism.
